We are very excited to announce our newest team member: Ward Van Laatum. However, Ward is not a new face within the Tygron community – quite the opposite. He has been working with the Tygron Platform for many years, first as a geo-hydrologist at Aveco de Bondt and later at Nepocon.
Ward is one of the earliest users of the Tygron Water Module. Since 2017, he has assisted numerous water boards, municipalities, and project developers in conducting stress tests, water assessments, and integrated water system analyses.
Despite his broad experience with the Tygron Water Module, Ward will primarily focus on Digital Twin developments for municipalities and provinces in his new role at Tygron. In this blog, we give Ward the opportunity to introduce himself.
Over the past 13 years, I have worked as a geo-hydrologist at Aveco de Bondt, and since 2023, I have been applying my expertise at Nepocon. In these roles, I closely collaborated with water boards, project developers, and municipalities, which has given me a lot of satisfaction. While I have always enjoyed my work as a hydrologist, I noticed that my interest gradually shifted to broader social issues.
This shift in focus has led me to specialize more and more in visualizing and analyzing complex issues such as water, nature, biodiversity, livability, and housing development. To provide better insights into these themes and the corresponding integral decisions, I have extensively used the Tygron Platform and developed various dashboards and ICT applications via the API.
At Tygron, I will further apply my experience and expertise within the Custom Solutions and Support team, where I will support clients in gaining insights into integral challenges using Geo-data and calculation models. One of my main projects will be to guide the Municipality of Nieuwegein in the implementation of its Digital Model of the city, in addition to my contributions to the Healthy Area Development (GGO) applications of the province of Utrecht.
This new challenge fits perfectly with my desire to broaden my professional horizon. In this position I can optimally use my skills in processing large amounts of geo-data, creating dashboards, and systematically working with calculation models. In addition, my knowledge of programming in R and Python, as well as my experience with APIs, will play an important role in my contribution to the projects.
I am therefore very enthusiastic about being part of the new developments at Tygron and contributing to the challenging and interesting projects in which Tygron is involved.
